3 years ago today about 5 weeks after sidux said to to world that 'we are on deck', the sidux Operating System Manual was uploaded and sent live online.

Back then it consisted of about 25 files and in 2 languages (DE and EN). Very rapidly the language translations mounted, first with Spanish, then in rapid succession other languages followed and today it stands at 16 languages.

Today the sidux Operating System Manual contains 48 text files, plus screenies, with 2 of the files I term as nemesis files (monsters) and as of today another file is waiting in the wings regarding the ability to network boot sidux, (which will be added after the 2009-04 release).

About 2 years ago the sidux Community Software Selections Manual was added, (it used to be known as the meta-manual from an idea of zulu9 who had a huge influence on its development). It now consists of some 172 text files plus a huge screenie database and is available in 8 languages and weighs in at 43MB. (To give you an idea of what that means compared with the sidux Operating System Manual, the Operating System Manual weighs in at 27MB).

To state the effort of some 40 translators over time in monetary terms, there are in excess of 820,000 lines of code across all languages and it is valued at USD$12,600,000 (this is not a typo!).

The sidux Operating System Manual would not be in the shape it is without the input from the other devs and doc team members particularly edhunter, etorix, x-un-i and others in sidux IRC, who have spent, at times, countless hours with me, proofing core files.

To all the forum and wiki contributors, have no doubt that your concepts and solutions get included when they have long term ramifications and the wealth of information on the forum and wiki is not able to be caclulated, a big thank you goes to you all.. Just sensational!

I now must stand and applaud the entire sidux Manual translation team, both past and present, no other words can describe each of you in any other way, other than as, 'simply brilliant and stunning'.

Das sidux-Projekt wurde erst durch das von Dir angeleitete Manual zu einer "anfassbaren Sache". Ich behaupte, dass das factoid !rtbm eines der beliebtesten der schwer gebeutelten Supporter ist.

    Danke weiter so!

    PS:
!rtbm = "rtbm" is Read The Bluewater Manual :: http://manual.sidux.com/ ::also in:: Български, Dansk, Deutsch, English, Español, Ελληνικά, Français, Hrvatski, Nederlands, Magyar, 日本語 (Nihongo) , Polski, Português(Brasil), Română, Русский, Italiano
